During an early evening stroll to the local library, we came across this big pile of mulched Christmas trees. It smelt heavenly, and the kids spent an hour having fun playing around it.

As I was editing photos last week, I kept thinking that they seemed familiar. Then I remembered this moment almost 3 years ago. In an old school house in Cataloochee, NC. My heart aches realizing how time moves steadily on, and I am grateful that I have these photographs to take me back. It also reminds me to stay present and in the moment.

Evan: Drawing his next masterpiece and wandering why I keep bringing out my camera.

Sunday night I nestled into bed, sad that the next day ended our much adored days of sleeping in during our relaxing 2 week break. Five minutes later my phone rang....."There will be no school tomorrow due to extreme cold weather".... what? really? .....why yes, I'll take it. We enjoyed 2 extra days of rest, all day pj wearing, hanging out in our home, being lazy and staying warm.

Lilia: The one thing she wanted more than anything for Christmas. This is how she insists on playing it.

Evan: I find myself more and more these days in awe of this one, enjoying every moment of this age (8).

I decided to join this beautiful "52 project", started by the wonderful Jodi of Practising Simplicity (formerly Che & Fidel). It has been a huge inspiration for me and something I've been wanting to participate in for a while now. Thanks for joining me on this journey.
